Living what I pin {pinterest}

Screen Shot 2013-09-30 at 5.08.14 PMThere’s something big stewing in my mind and I’m pretty excited about it.

People who know me best say I’m pretty driven. I love to work AND I love to play. There isn’t much you can tell me I can’t do and if you do tell me that I’ll say “watch me.” Of course…Sometimes I get stuck. Sometimes I figure out that something I was pursing wasn’t really what I wanted to pursue and I change directions. And sometimes I fail mega-ton, get back up, and try again (and again, and again). But I’m LIVING. I’m not defaulting, numbing out, or avoiding.

I try my best to be playing on the field of LIFE and not watching from the stands. But there’s one aspect of my life that I feel like I’ve been a spectator in for too long….Pinterest.

I love pinterest. I have 2,861 pins as of writing this {check it here} and will continue to pin and peruse those fabulous boards to my heart’s content. Some people say it’s not good because it makes you want/long for instead of being thankful for what you have, and I can see their perspective. But for me, I feel so much JOY seeing the beauty in pictures, exploring parts of the world I’ve never seen, uncovering possibility, salivating over new recipes, and getting ideas for how to pair my wardrobe together.

I pin my desires, my interests, my travel plans, my taste buds, inspiring words, and more.

But truth be told… I may have implemented my pinterest pins only 3% of the time, if that. I’ve been a spectator in the STANDS.

Last night, as Eli (husband) and I were reading together, we came across this quote in The Way of the Superior Man…”Spend at least an hour today giving your fullest gift, whatever that is for today, so that when you go to sleep at night you know you couldn’t have lived your day with more courage, creativity, and giving.

It solidified my thoughts of … “What if I implemented 1 thing from my pinterest boards every day?” In other words, what if I implemented my true desires, cravings, and passions every day and fully played ON the field instead of watching the field from the stands?

I think it would be freaking awesome!!! So, that’s what I’m doing. 365 days of living what I pin.

So if you want to…

  • travel… take a 1/2 day road trip and explore something new OR start a savings account today even just $1/day will get you playing instead of watching).
  • eat healthier and feel better … start walking, get a mentor, or join a program that teaches you.
  • live in an environment that is chic and lavish…start with decorating/crafting/buying 1 item a week/month or enhancing 1 space each month.
  • learn new recipes or eat delicious food... google it, buy a new cookbook, send an email out to friends to send you their best recipes, or join a program with a cookbook.
  • have more romance…YOU do a romantic act or plan a romantic date in the next week.

My challenge for you & myself:

Don’t stay in the stands and WISH (or Pin). Instead DO.
Even if it’s just for 1 hour a day.

“The creative challenge is to tussle, play, and make love with the present moment …Every moment wasted is a moment wasted, and each wasted moment degrades your clarity of purpose.” – The Way of the Superior Man.

Do. Play. Live.
